Is Your Hard Work REALLY Paying Off?
Let me ask you ONE simple question, do you really THINK the people you work for care how HARD you work? It’s quite simple to those people who provide jobs. They only pay you what they THINK you are worth.
I know most of you out there work a company and know the business better than the owner himself. You’ve been at your job for 10, 15, even 20 years and you know the “tricks of the trade” You know what shortcuts you can take to accomplish the necessary tasks, you know the BEST way to do these tasks, yet AFTER 10 years you might have received 3 or 4 raises. WHOOPIE! Hooray! Good for you, BUT you’re only gonna get paid what your boss thinks you’re worth.
The boss asks you to be a manager/supervisor/etc…says he’s going to pay you 5,000 more a year HOWEVER you will be required to work 5 to 8 more hours a week. Just at the bare minimum of 5 hours more a week, that equates out to 19 bucks an hour for every extra hour you work. Is that extra 5 to 8 hours away from your family or whatever it is you ENJOY really worth it? NO, Also by turning down an offer like that it shows POWER to your employer. You don’t have to be a jerk about not taking the position just simply explain that it wouldn’t be worth your time.
Can I Suggest Something? START working for yourself. Find something you are PASSIONATE about and start your own business. The only thing that limits you is yourself. There are SO many mentors out there to help you along.
Look at it this way. Stop being so darn SCARED about your finances. Pursue your passion! Eventually, you won’t even feel like you’re “working”. You will be doing something you ENJOY and can make money at the same time.
PLEASE call me if you have any questions, concerns, comments, or suggestions. I’m an open book. 205-352-XCEL

I don’t think people realize how much of their lives they waste making somebody else rich.
Newsflash! Your boss isn’t going to tell you that he is buying your time and wholesale and selling it at retail!
Great post Ryan!
Thanks Glen. The whole world has something they are GREAT at. We all need to do a self evaluation and find out what it is we LOVE.
Great post Brother,
If people would put the same amount of energy into there own business as they put into getting ready for work, driving to work, being at work. They would really would be in a state of shock to what would happen for them.
Best decision I ever made was to quit my corporate job and begin working for myself.
Yes, it takes sacrifice, and yes, you’ll work your butt off. But you’re probably doing that for your boss now anyway. At least you’ll be in complete control of how much money you make, and you’ll never have to ask for vacation time.

This is so true Ryan, I’ve been self employed for 2 years now and I wouldn’t trade it for a job any day.
You will always add to what you build and no one can ever under pay you again.
If there’s anyone out there that’s on the fence, go for it!
