Many people ask “How To Write A Blog” over and over. Most people think they can write, but when they sit down to write they have “writer’s block”. This is a very common occurrence and I am here to show you different techniques to conquer this difficulty in blogging. These techniques will BRING traffic to your website INSTANTLY.

1. Do not try to “perfect” your writing the first time you write. What does this mean? It means to simply write what comes to your brain. Do not worry about spelling, grammar, any of that. You can edit the entry later and make it sound “good” to your readers.

2. Pick something you have a lot of knowledge about and elaborate on it. I do not write about things I do not know about. If you wish to write about something, do some research on it before you start spitting “facts”. Don’t expect people to believe all what you write. Encourage them to research the topic for themselves.

Blogging is writing online. That’s all it is. Most people would say “Why would you waste your time doing that? or “It seems so pointless, yada, yada, yada.” Let me tell you what, if you are STRESSED out in life, blogging is VERY relaxing. It makes you feel like you’ve accomplished something. Which in most cases, if you do it right, you have accomplished success.

3. Write about something that will STICK with the person (even after they’ve left your page). Do not write about how TERRIBLE your life is. Instead, write about something that is uplifting, and triggers people emotions.

Make people THINK when they read your blog. You might want to include a mini activity that allows them to participate in the blog itself. For example, if you are writing about creating a positive mindset, include an activity where the person writes down 10 things they absolutely LOVE about themselves. Also, you could write a story about someone you know that is related to the topic you are going to write about. There are an infinite amount of topics you can blog about.

4. If you are still having trouble writing, go TAKE A BREAK. Refresh your mind. I have learned a very simple technique from my friend Katie Freiling. She has a simple stress relief technique that only takes 2 minutes to do. Watch her video here to see EXACTLY what I’m talking about.

5. After you have wrote your blog, READ IT ALOUD TO YOURSELF. This is just like ENGLISH class. Reading your blog aloud allows you to catch errors and make the blog clear to your reader. If you stumble through a certain part of your blog, it means its too hard to understand.

Do not use any words that are too hard to understand. For example, here are two sentences that express the exact same thing. Which one do you think comes out more effectively? A. The insouciant man skips through the woods with glee, until he meets his . . . demise at the end. B. The carefree man skips through the woods with joy, until he meets his…death at the end. These sentences have the same exact meaning but how many of you actually knew what insouciant meant before you read the next sentence? I bet maybe 5% of you did. THIS IS NOT GOOD. You are not under estimating  people’s intelligence by using simple vocabulary, you are simply presenting a clear message.

6. Organize your blog into sections. This means act like the blog is an English essay. Write your MAIN message in the first paragraph. Then divide it into sections of what you are going to talk about. Usually 3 to 4 main points will suffice. Most people “skim” the internet anyway. You will be lucky if a reader actually takes the time to read the entire blog. How do you get people to do this? CAPTURE THEIR ATTENTION with the title.

7. What words should I use in my title? This is a VERY good question. I have a little secret here. I won’t go into too much detail but it is the BEST tool on the internet. It is called Google Adwords Keyword Research. It can be found here GoogleKeywordResearch. Go and type in whatever it is YOU wanted to title your blog. Once you do this, Google comes back with a list of hundreds of possible keywords (depending on how popular the topic is).

You will want to choose a keyword that is searched on Google under 1,000 times a month with not much advertiser competition. Why would I want to use a keyword that is not heavily used? Answer, because you can get ranked HIGHER in the search engines quicker with this keyword. What does this mean? You have more targeted PEOPLE visiting your website.

The advertiser competition can be found in the second column of this keyword tool. HINT, the more green the bar is, the more competition there is. I would not use a keyword that has 800 hits with EXTREME advertiser competition because the chances of you getting ranked in the search engines are slim to none. The reason for this is the PPC(pay-per-click) advertising done on Google. Now, don’t get me wrong, you can get ranked in the search engines QUICKLY and highly by using PPC (pay-per-click)advertising. However, this can be very costly.

I am not undermining the power of PPC because I know it works, but YOU need to see if you can do it without having to PAY for a high ranked spot on Google. Consider it a CHALLENGE. Heck, what would life be like without em? BORING!

8. Have someone proofread your blog post. GET someone you know and trust to edit your blog. Do not get the person that tells you “you’re so great” to help edit. Instead, have someone that you know will give you constructive criticism. It always helps to have a second set of eyes. Do not have LONG paragraphs. Instead, break your blog up into EASY 5 to 6 lines to read. This eases the readers mind and allows them to “skim” through your article while still comprehending your information.

I’m here to help ya in any way I can. Your comments, thoughts, constructive criticisms, anything at all are WELCOME. I’m always seeking ways to improve my skills. Let me know what ya think!

To Yours In Success,

Good tips, Ryan. I think sometimes people get a little “frozen” when they think about blog topics, I know I have. What helps me sometimes is to research what other people are writing about, and then I usually get an idea of my own.

  3. Thank you much for this great post.

  4. Great info, I will put it to good use. Thanks for sharing.
